Biography
Peter Haberman is a conductor, trumpet performer, and music educator based in Pennsylvania. He is currently the assistant professor of music and director of bands at Bucknell University, where he conducts the Symphonic Band and teaches courses in conducting and music education. A native of Minnesota, he received his B.M. in education (Concordia College, Moorhead) and a M.M. in trumpet performance and conducting (University of Montana, Missoula), and is currently working toward a D.M.A. in conducting at the University of Minnesota with Craig Kirchhoff.
Prior to his appointment at Bucknell University, Haberman spent seven years teaching as Co-Director of Bands at the Mercer Island School District in Washington and Director of Bands at the Maple Lake School District in Minnesota. In those positions he was involved in all aspects of his students’ musical growth including Concert Bands, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Band. He has received the Educator of the Year Award and the Principal’s Award for Outstanding Teaching at Mercer Island, and the Maple Lake Employee of the Year Award.
Haberman is an active trumpet performer and educator, and currently is a member of the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra. He has maintained a private studio and performance schedule in each community he has lived over the past ten years.
Peter Haberman also maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator and clinician across the United States. He has also served as the Artistic Director and Conductor for the Bellevue Community Band, and was founder of the Maple Lake Jazz Ensemble. His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, International Trumpet Guild, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, and Music Educators National Conference. He currently lives with his wife Erika and daughter Claire in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
